When browsing a DIY store or wholesaler for a window lock or door hardware, few people stop to consider how much thought goes into the packaging behind the product. Yet developing the right packaging involves countless decisions—especially when sustainability is a priority.

At AXA Home Security, making greener choices is not an afterthought. As a company with more than 120 years of experience in security hardware, we believe that responsibility goes beyond the product itself. That’s why we carefully examine every aspect of our packaging: from material selection and recyclability to durability, transport efficiency and waste reduction.

We believe it’s important to be open about why these choices matter—because they are better for the planet and for all of us—and how we make them. Our journey toward more sustainable packaging has not always been straightforward. It has involved trial and error, learning moments and continuous improvement.

New packaging

Cradle to Cradle

The Cradle to Cradle Certified® product standard is an international certification for raw materials and products that can be fully reused in a way that retains their value (recycling) or even increases their value (upcycling). Our products are primarily made of aluminum and steel. We expect these materials to contain an amount of recycled material. However, this cannot be claimed through Chain of Custody or other documentation.

Also, the products are designed to be completely disassembled. After use, the various mono-material streams can be reprocessed through proper channels

Protecting tomorrow today: working together

Protecting people is the foundation of our business. This applies to our products, but since our founding, we have also been keen to look beyond the walls of our company to make society a little fairer, more equal and more empowering. We know from experience that we can only achieve this if we do it with and for each other. For example, we have been associated with Werkvoorziening Zuidoost Utrecht, the predecessor of the current social development company IW4, since its establishment sixty-five years ago. Thus everyone gets a chance to participate with pleasure in our field of work and AXA supports them in developing their potential.
