Why is sustainability so important?

The time is now, to give sustainability goals hands and feet. That’s what we’re doing at AXA Home Security. With heart for our people, customers, suppliers and planet.

Our sustainable mindset did not fall from the sky: it was and is our basis. Even today, producing and delivering quality products that last for generations is our standard. From the beginning, we have been committed to providing a safe and inclusive work environment for our people. At every step of every development process, we were-and still are-considering the impact of our activities on our environment. We now know that more needs to be done and we want to do justice to current and future generations. This awareness brings with it responsibilities. We are happy to take those responsibilities.

In addition, communicating and visualizing our standards and values is important, to create recognition for everyone. For this reason, a “green jacket” was chosen as an addition to the AXA style.

For all topics surrounding sustainability, the AXA Home Security | Protecting tomorrow today logo was created. This way the difference is more clearly recognizable when we post messages around sustainability.

Our story

For years, we, and our products, have been unobtrusively doing our job to keep you and your belongings safe. We usually go public to share our knowledge and set a good example. Not because we want to be the best, but because we hope that good examples will be followed.

This also applies to our vision on business: we like to put forward the steps we take to contribute to a fair, green, health-promoting and safe planet. Including the obstacles we encounter along the way and how they make us wiser.

You may not realize it, but if you really want to make a difference, you can count on a tough job. Fortunately, at AXA Home Security, we don’t shy away from challenges.

Points of attention

It starts with identifying priorities of necessary changes. We have divided these, in line with the policies of our parent company Allegion, into three focus areas: Social, Environmental and Governance. In each of these areas, we are doing now what is within our reach. For issues that require more preparation and research, we carefully map out routes. This also means that we are looking very closely at our partnerships: with which partners are we going to achieve our sustainability ambitions?

As I said, a tough job. All the more so because becoming more sustainable at the product level has direct consequences for the way we:

  • AXA Home Security products design and manufacture
  • Package and transport AXA Home Security products
  • Choosing the materials and machines
  • Choosing energy sources
  • Dealing with residual materials

In a broader sense, our sustainability ambitions also affect:

  • The way we handle the materials of products at the end of their life cycle
  • The partners we choose
  • The people who work for us
  • The way we deal with each other within the organization
  • The way we deal with our customers and the world around us
  • The places where we work
  • The places we source our materials from

Sustainable in steps

In recent years, we have already achieved a great deal together. The Cradle to Cradle certified Bronze certificate obtained in 2024 is a wonderful example of this. Yet we continue to move forward.

For example, we are switching entirely from plastic to cardboard consumer packaging for our products. In addition, we are in talks to set up an effective recycling cooperation with a partner.

Where necessary, we replace parts of our existing products with parts made of environmentally friendly materials. With each new design, we are alert to the choices: which materials do we choose? With which design is quality guaranteed, but do we also keep dismantling feasible at the end of the cycle?

Sharing knowlegde and experience to build a greener future

At AXA Home Security, we are driven by ambition. Yet we also want to help others improve their green footprint. Sharing our knowledge and experience is therefore very important, because together we achieve more.

How we learn, what we learn and how we apply it, may also benefit others. This way we not only have sustainable processes, but also sustainable relationships.
