Rich, strong history

G.H. van Leeuwen’s acquisition of the Veenendaal store started by his parents in oil, barrels and hardware over 120 years ago, marks the beginning of the rich history of our fine company as a hardware specialist. In addition to products such as stoves, oil cans, cribs and even strollers, the firm’s hardware was particularly popular in those early days. Most of these products come directly from our own ironworks.

First Dutch factory of American hinges

When in 1916 the name of the factory changes to “Veenendaalsche Stoomfabrieken voor de IJzerindustrie voorheen G.H. van Leeuwen,” it is even listed as “First Dutch factory of American hinges. In the years that follow, the company increasingly specializes in hanging hardware. That business is expanded in the mid-1930s with the sale and later production of quality wheel locks.

In over one hundred and twenty years, we have made the transition from a traditional factory to a modern manufacturing facility. Starting as a manufacturer of baby carriages and cribs, to where today people from different disciplines join forces to make quality products for the safe opening and closing of windows and doors. Together we make the Netherlands safer!
